The declaration can be read on the letter of Bishop Abel Gabuza (photo) named as Coadjutor on 9th of December 2018 by Pope Francis
On that document, dated on 3th of December 2018, the new Coadjutor Archbishop of Durban wrote that Durbam is complex and he feels particularly challenged by the appointment. In his letter, Head indicates that “basically, there are two categories of Catholics. Those who prefer things as they are and those who are crying for change, a new vision and a new dream of being a church in these challenging times”. According to him, the church should live by faith. The one whom we trust is the benevolent God who guides us and loves us unconditionally.
Abel Gabuza has been Bishop of Kimberly which covers an area of 123, 082 sq.km. It has 31 priests, three deacons and less than 15 religious (women and men). The Catholic population is around 180,000.
Now he has been called to say goodbye to the Catholics of the diocese of Kimberley and say hello to the Catholics of the Archdiocese of Durban, as Coadjutor next to Cardinal Napier.
