Church concerned with ecological formation of the seminary

Rectors and Teachers of the Church’s Social Teaching at IMBISA Theological Seminaries will meet in Johannesburg on the 1st-2nd October 2019 to discuss the Papal Encyclical Laudato Si. The two-day event is an initiative of the Pastoral Department. IMBISA aims to raise awareness among seminary staff and future priests about environmental issues.
Participants will share on the example of St Francis of Assisi in the context of the recent cyclones, floods and droughts that have struck the region. At the same time, the human right to water and the responsibility to ensure that this right is promoted will also be reflected upon.
The colloquium is a direct response to the 2016 IMBISA Plenary Assembly held in Maseru, Lesotho, which invited the entire region to study the Encyclical so that it becomes better known and lived in all aspects of Church life.
Over the last two years, IMBISA has organized successful Laudato Sì training workshops for the Secretaries General of Episcopal Conferences in the IMBISA zone as well as young people. ow
